5.0SMDJ 5kW TVS Diodes

Bourns 5.0SMDJ 5kW TVS Diodes are designed for surge and ESD protection applications and come in a compact chip package DO-214AB (SMC) size format. This Bourns transient voltage suppressor series offers a choice of working peak reverse voltage from 12V to 170V and breakdown voltage up to 209V. The 5.0SMDJ offers typical fast response times of less than 1.0ps from 0V to breakdown voltage. This chip diode series conforms to JEDEC standards and is easy to handle with standard pick-and-place equipment. The flat configuration minimizes rollaway.

SMxJ Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diodes

Bourns SMxJ Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diodes come in compact chip package-size formats for surge and ESD protection applications. These diodes meet the needs of the portable communications, computing, and video equipment markets for increasingly smaller electronic components. The SMA6J, SMAJ, SMBJ, and SMCJ series all feature a surface-mount package design and standoff voltage from 5V to 495V. Bourns SMxJ TVS Diodes also provide power dissipation of 400W (SMAJ), 600W (SMA6J and SMBJ), and 1500W (SMCJ). The devices comply with IEC 61000-4-2 ESD (min. Level 4), IEC 61000-4-4 EFT, and IEC 61000-4-5 surge industry standards.

Circuit Protection Devices

TVS Diodes

Bourns Surface-Mount TVS Diodes are low capacitance devices that provide ESD, EFT, and surge protection for external ports of electronic devices such as cell phones, handheld electronics, and other portable electronic devices. Bourns TVS Diodes include smaller chip diodes that have the capability to provide a silicon diode with minimal packaging overhead. The chip diodes 0603, 1005, 1408, and 2010 are leadless, allowing for maximum space on PCB layouts. All Bourns diodes are RoHS compliant and meet many worldwide industry and government regulations on lead-free components. TVS package diode design kits are also available from Bourns.

Gas Discharge Tube for RS-485 Ports

Bourns Gas Discharge Tube (GDT) for RS-485 Ports is designed to meet industry standards on RS-485 port interfaces and to provide circuit protection in noisy and harsh electrical environments. For exposed lines that may see large and fast surges and where failure is not acceptable, a three-stage Bourns protection system is recommended.
