Broadband Optimized SIDACtor Protection Thyristors

Littelfuse Broadband Optimized SIDACtor Protection Thyristors focus on addressing the performance and regulatory requirements of broadband equipment. The Broadband Optimized family, with its wide range of solutions, provides applications with the options needed to address the unique protection needs of DSL equipment (up to VDSL) as well as Ethernet (up to 1000baseT). Optimization is accomplished using proprietary and patented approaches that minimize the negative effects of device capacitance on broadband signals. The Littelfuse Broadband components provide an overvoltage protection solution that helps applications comply with Telcordia GR-1089 Issue 4, and ITU-T recommendations K.20, K.21, K.44, and K.45.

Supercharged Solutions for EV Charging Systems

Littelfuse application expertise has helped to engineer some of the most advanced systems for EV charging stations. Whether developing alternating current (AC) charging systems, which provide AC power to a vehicle’s on-board charger, or direct current (DC) fast chargers, which provide DC power to a vehicle’s battery system, Littelfuse can help designers meet three key goals of safety, efficiency, and reliability.

SEP Biased SIDACtor Protection Thyristors

Littelfuse SEP (SIDACtor® Thyristor Ethernet/PoE Protector) Biased SIDACtor® Protection Thyristors have a surge rating compatible with GR1089 Inter-building and ITU K.20/21 Enhanced protection requirements. Targeted for high-speed applications such as 10BaseT, 100BaseT, and 1000BaseT, the thyristors maintain signal quality while providing robust protection for Ethernet and PoE applications. The innovative silicon design results in a capacitive loading characteristic that is constant with respect to the voltage across the device. This reduces distortion caused by typical solid-state protection solutions. Offered in a surface-mount QFN package with a SO-8 compatible footprint, the SEP components from Littelfuse provide a small package size without sacrificing power and surge handling capabilities. The low profile thyristor features low distortion, low insertion loss, balanced overvoltage protection, and fails short circuit when surged in excess of ratings.

SIDACtor® Protection Thyristors

Littelfuse SIDACtor® Protection Thyristors are thyristor devices used to protect sensitive circuits from electrical disturbances caused by lightning-induced surges, inductive-coupled spikes, and AC power fault conditions. The unique structure and characteristics of the thyristor are used to create an overvoltage protection device with precise and repeatable turn-on characteristics with low voltage overshoot and high surge current capabilities. SIDACtor components are solid state crowbar devices with a patented ion implant technology that ensures effective protection within nanoseconds. Littelfuse SIDACtor Protection Thyristors include a wide range of semiconductor protection thyristor over-voltage transient suppression devices designed to serve requirements of telecom and data networking equipment applications.

AC/DC Power Supply

Littelfuse AC/DC Power Supply is a commonly used building block in electronic designs. The components in these power supply building blocks need to be reliable and long-lasting, and Littelfuse offers a range of products that fit those requirements. This portfolio of components covers overcurrent and overvoltage protection, the power stage, and output protection. Typical applications for Littelfuse AC/DC Power Supply products include automotive, solar, industrial, manufacturing, and more.

Electrical Vehicle DC Fast Chargers

DC charging stations are designed to convert the electrical grid’s AC power into DC power that can then be fed directly into a vehicle’s battery system for fast charging – in 30 minutes or less. Because the conversion from AC to DC power is being done in the charging station, these units can provide higher levels of power (50kW to 350kW and beyond) to the vehicle compared to AC charging stations. Working with tens to hundreds of kilowatts of power, efficient conversion, reliability of the system, and user safety are critical.
