AVRH Multilayer Varistors

TDK AVRH Multilayer Varistors comply with AEC-Q200 automotive standards and operate in a wide temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. These compact, high-reliability chip varistors also fulfill 25kV voltage resistance requirements under IEC 61000-4-2 standards for electrostatic discharge tests. The series includes models for LIN and CAN. The LIN variant is environmentally designed to achieve a miniaturized footprint for smaller end-user devices and fewer materials used. The CAN varistor offers a 2-in-1 array structure in which a single device functions as two varistors and a minimized capacitance difference between channels. Applications for TDK AVRH Multilayer Varistors include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), in-vehicle infotainment, and automotive bus systems such as LIN, CAN, CAN-FD, and FlexRay.

Automotive Circuit Protection

AVR varistors protect against electrostatic discharge (ESD), voltage surges in power supplies from lightning, and systems for power generation and distribution. These products are also used in the highly-sensitive electronics in vehicles, household appliances, PCs, and notebook computers. NTC thermistors protect internal circuits or devices from overheating by acting as temperature sensors in monitoring systems. TDK has reduced the size of NTC products by applying the same multilayer technology developed for multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs).
