Mouser-Sponsored Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing Team Scores Another Podium Finish in the IMSA Battle of the Bricks at IMS
September 18, 2023 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader™ empowering innovation, congratulates Jack Hawksworth, Ben Barnicoat and the Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing team on their third-place finish for the GTD PRO class at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), in Indianapolis, IN, on September 17. It marks the ninth podium result of the year for the driver duo, who currently lead the GTD PRO championship by 188 points heading into the season finale Petit Le Mans next month.
"We congratulate Jack, Ben, and the entire Vasser Sullivan Lexus team on a thrilling racing spectacle this weekend," said Todd McAtee, Senior Vice President, Business Development for Mouser Electronics. "This has been such an exciting season, and we are looking forward to a great race at Motul Petit Leman at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. "
Hawksworth qualified third in the No. 14 Lexus and led nine laps around the 14-turn, 2.439-mile Indianapolis road course. Hawksworth was in the lead when a caution came out nearly 52 minutes into the two-hour and 40-minute sprint race, and the team elected to pit under yellow. After the pit stop, Hawksworth worked his way back up to third place before turning driving duties over to Barnicoat. Barnicoat ran a clean final stint and brought the No. 14 RC F GT3 home in third place with a chance to earn the first full-season GT championship when the Lexus takes the green flag at Petit Le Mans next month.
Aaron Telitz and Frankie Montecalvo had an eventful day behind the wheel of the No. 12 Lexus and finished 14th in the GTD class on Sunday. Montecalvo was involved in an incident with a class competitor that sent the RC F GT3 to the pit around the one-hour mark of the race. The Vasser Sullivan crew repaired the damage during the stop, and Telitz finished the race for the driver duo.
Mouser and valued manufacturer partner Molex co-sponsor the Vasser Sullivan Lexus Racing team, seeing the opportunity as an inventive way to communicate its performance-driven business model and promote the newest technologies.
Next, the team travels to Georgia for the season finale race, the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, on Saturday, October 14.
