Mouser Now Stocking the BeagleBoard BeagleV-Ahead Open-Source RISC-V SBC for AI, IoT and IIoT Applications
September 19, 2023 – Mouser Electronics, Inc., the authorized global distributor with the newest electronic components and industrial automation products, is now stocking the BeagleV®-Ahead open-source RISC-V single board computer (SBC) from BeagleBoard.org. The BeagleV-Ahead pushes open-source to the next level and gives developers more freedom and power to innovate and design industry-leading solutions in a cost-effective package. This advanced SBC uses the company's BeagleBone Black development platform as its form factor but updates the Arm® processor with a powerful RISC-V quad-core processor, AI acceleration, hybrid network connections, and a surplus of interfaces to support a variety of consumer and industrial control applications.
The BeagleV-Ahead, available from Mouser Electronics, is built around a powerful and energy-efficient open-source RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA) featuring the Alibaba T-Head TH1520 RISC-V SoC. The 64-bit quad-core incorporates a 2GHz RISC-V Xuantie C910 (RV64GCV) processor operating at up to 1.85GHz, a Xuantie C906 audio DSP, a low power Xuantie E902 core, 50 GFLOPS Imagination 3D GPU, and 4 TOPS NPU at INT8 1GHz computing power with support for Tensor Flow, ONNX and Caffe frameworks for significant AI acceleration capabilities. On-board storage for the BeagleV-Ahead SBC includes 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a microSD expansion slot and 16GB of eMMC flash storage pre-installed with Yocto Linux (working prototypes of Ubuntu and Fedora are also available).
The BeagleV-Ahead includes a wide range of networking, connectivity and interface options. The SBC has a hybrid network connection, integrating 2.4G Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 5.2 wireless technology. It also provides a 1 Gigabit Ethernet network interface with integrated magnetics and RJ-45 connector that can offer stable scene mobility, flexibility and security. Along with its six analog inputs, the SBC also has a USB3 super-speed (5Gbps) micro-AB host/device for power and data and add-on board expansion through its mikroBUS™ shuttle connector, supporting a PWM, I2C, UART, SPI, I2S, and GPIO. Other expansion and connectors include two CSIs, micro-HDMI, DSI media ports and two BeagleBone® Black cape headers that offer endless design possibilities by enabling P8 and P9 cape header pin compatibility with over 1000 BeagleBone click boards that can stack onto the BeagleV-Ahead SBC board.
The compact 96.5 mm × 60.7 mm × 19.9 mm BeagleV-Ahead SBC is available now through Mouser Electronics. The includes the BeagleV-Ahead board, a 2.4 GHz/5 GHz antenna, a MicroUSB OTG cable and a quick-start card. With its multiple operating systems that support everything from complex AI systems and industrial controls to simple embedded projects, the BeagleV-Ahead SBC is ideally suited for Internet of Things (IoT) applications, robotics, Artificial Intelligence, embedded systems and industrial automation/factory control.
