Mouser Now Shipping Melexis Arcminaxis MLX90384 Sensors for Robotics, E-Mobility, and Industrial Markets

The Arcminaxis™ MLX90384 sensors feature cutting-edge, high-resolution position-sensing technology designed to meet the growing demand for affordable, high-precision solutions in robotics, E-mobility, and high-accuracy industrial magnetic encoder applications.
The Melexis Arcminaxis™ MLX90384 sensors, available from Mouser, combine multi-axis sensing capabilities with Vernier magnet technology, resulting in a compact and easy-to-integrate solution. Using two sensing areas to measure two pairs of orthogonal magnetic field components — axial and tangential — combined with a unique dual-track magnet design (featuring a Master and Nonius track), allows for a greater air gap between the magnet and sensor. This accommodates larger magnet poles while maintaining accurate angular position and speed, thereby increasing design flexibility.
The Melexis MLX90384 magnet used in the MLX90384 encoder system is a Vernier-type magnet with two tracks of eight and seven pole pairs consisting of two monolithic magnetic position sensor ICs, each incorporating a Triaxis® Hall magnetic front end, an analog-to-digital converter, hardware for high-speed signal conditioning, and a 10MHz high-speed SPI interface. They measure both tracks' axial, tangential, and magnetic components, then transmit this information to a precompiled software package for an STM32 microcontroller, which generates the counted turnout of this information.
Melexis Arcminaxis MLX90384 evaluation kits are based on the MLX90384 reference design and developed to simplify exploration of Arcminaxis technology. The kit includes an entirely functional tabletop demonstrator, featuring a magnet ring set, a magnet holder, a sensor module, a base element, an SPI master for convenient USB connectivity to a PC, and a Graphic User Interface (GUI) for calibrating and operating the MLX90384 demonstrator.
