This kit provides a starting point to evaluate time-saving and proven motor control reference designs as part of the industry-acclaimed series of Microsemi SmartFusion2 System-on-Chip (SoC) FPGAs.

The SmartFusion2 Dual-Axis Motor Starter Kit, available from Mouser Electronics, offers high performance and reliability in a small design to save board space. The kit includes modular IP blocks, software, and an easy-to-use GUI that designers need to quickly build a motor control solution and reduce time to market. Motor performance has been tested for speeds exceeding 100,000 RPM, making this kit an ideal solution for sensorless field oriented control (FOC). It also features low latencies of 1.2µs for FOC with sensors and 2µs for sensorless FOC, which enable switching frequencies of up to 500 kHz. The device also offers security and safety features such as overcurrent protection and anti-tamper technology to help guard against failure.
